The school system's three largest schools are located near the city of Franklin. Ephesus Elementary is located in the northwestern portion of Heard County and Centralhatchee Elementary is centrally located near the middle of the county. Heard County is surrounded by three larger Georgia counties and the state of Alabama to the west.
Recreation is a prime attraction for those visiting Heard County. With direct access to some of the best crappie and bass fishing in the state, thousands of fishermen are drawn to the Chattahoochee River and the headwaters of West Point Lake, a 25,900 acre reservoir, each year.
Heard County is home to some of the state's best whitetail deer population. Some of the biggest bucks on record have been harvested from our community.
No matter where you live in Heard County, you are less than 30 minutes away from some of Georgia's best cafes, restaurants, coffee shops, and entertainment. Although, Heard County may have a Mayberry "feel" to it, you are only minutes away from dining, shopping, movies, and more.
